ST. LOUIS (KMOX) - St. Louis Blues defenseman Alex Pietrangelo calls it a dream come true for any Canadian kid growing up – being picked for his country’s Olympic hockey team.

Pietrangelo and fellow blue-liner Jay Bouwmeester got the call from Team Canada on Tuesday.

Blues Head Coach Ken Hitchcock will serve as an Assistant Coach for Canada, while GM Doug Armstrong will serve as the Associate Director of Player Personnel at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia.

The 23-year-old Pietrangelo will be representing Canada for the fourth time in his career and first at the Olympic games. Previously, the King City, Ontario native appeared at the 2009 and 2010 World Juniors as well as the 2011 World Championships.

The 30-year-old Bouwmeester will be representing Canada for the 10th time in his career and the second time at the Olympics. Previously, the Edmonton, Alberta native appeared at the 2006 Winter Olympics in addition to four World Championship appearances (2003, 2004, 2008, 2012), one World Cup (2005) appearances and three World Junior tournaments (2000, 2001, 2002).
